Fill A Truck
Andy’s Transfer and Storage is partnering with Move For Hunger, a national non-profit organization, to hold a “Fill-A-Truck” food drive at their office on Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Andy’s Transfer and Storage is challenging the community to donate enough food to fill an entire moving truck. Local residents are asked to donate non-perishable food items, such as peanut butter, tuna fish, canned fruits/vegetables, pasta, rice, beans, and cereal, to help support the effort.
Andy’s Transfer and Storage will personally deliver all of the donations to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

Harvest Hoedown at GCC
The Glendale Community College Parent Education Assn. is hosting a Harvest Hoedown on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Life Skills Parking lot (Lot B).
The event includes rides, entertainment, carnival games, food truck, crafts and prizes.
GCC is located at 1500 N. Verdugo Road in Glendale.
American Heroes Air Show
The American Heroes Air Show is at Hansen Dam on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show spotlights helicopters of different sizes, styles and ages.
Admission is free.
Hansen Dam is located at 11798 Foothill Blvd. in Lake View Terrace.
CVTC Elections
Elections for the Crescenta Valley Town Council are Friday, Nov. 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sadler Hall, St. Luke’s of the Mountains, 2563 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta.
Registered voters who live in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County/La Crescenta and Montrose are eligible to vote. There are seven candidates running for three council seats and three alternate council seats. Voters can vote for up to three candidates.
Encouraging ‘Play’ Time
On Sunday, Nov. 5 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m., the “Go Out and Play Family Event” takes place at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. Bring the family for an afternoon of crafts, nature games, an interpretive hike and more.
Put down the phone, turn off the TV, put on your shoes and Go Out and Play!

Rosemont Preserve Open Gate Afternoon
An “open gate” event is taking place at the Rosemont Preserve on Sunday morning, Nov. 5. This is a chance for residents to visit the Preserve and wander the trail at their own pace and take a tour with a guided map and interpretive guides created by local Girl Scouts. Photographers: bring your camera to capture the early morning light.
The gate will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those planning on walking the trails should wear sturdy shoes.
This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages; no reservations required. Rain cancels. Sorry, no pets please.

Winemaking History Presented
On, Friday, Nov. 10 Glendale Trails and Open Space will host its second Friday Night Lecture of the year: “Winemaking in the Crescenta/Cañada Valleys: Then and Now” with Stuart Byles (author and winemaker).
This program is for adults only and will cover the history of winemaking in the region and the future of the industry. Participants will meet in the Trails and Open Space Office (Ranch House) at Deukmejian Wilderness Park from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Space is limited and interested participants must RSVP by calling (818) 548-3795.
