CRIME BLOTTER

Nov. 1

900 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada, a loss prevention employee reported seeing a white male in the store described as of Arabic descent, 5’6” to 5’7” tall, weighing about 170 to 180 pounds, 35-to-45 years old and, at the time, wearing a black short sleeve T-shirt and white sweat pants with double black lines. The employee recognized him as someone who had committed thefts in another store on Rosemead Boulevard. She reported witnessing him take vitamins from store shelves and putting them in his pants pockets. When he exited the store, without attempting to pay for the items, the employee stopped him and asked him to come back into the store. When he did he ran toward the back of the store and eluded the employee as he ran out of the store.

The theft occurred at 4:25 p.m.

Oct. 31

4900 block of Vineta Avenue in La Cañada, glass panels of a door were smashed and a safe with personal items was stolen from a home between Oct. 31 and Nov. 3.

500 block of Highland Drive in La Cañada, deputies responded to a burglary-in-progress call. They coordinated a containment around the immediate area of the location. An airship was requested to search the area for suspects. Deputies discovered that suspects were seen running through properties located in the 4000 block of Dover Road. A search was conducted but no suspects were found.

According to the resident, she had been dropped off by her father and as she walked into the home she saw a man, described as having “dark skin,” about 5’9” tall and weighing about 180 lbs., in her home. At the time he was dressed in all black with black gloves and a black backpack with polka dot reflectors. The instant the suspect saw the resident he ran downstairs toward the home’s bottom floor. The resident soon heard what appeared to be a secondary voice coming from the same general direction as to where the first suspect ran. The resident ran out of the house and into her father’s car, which was turning around in the driveway, and told him what happened. The father drove to Dover Road and witnessed both suspects running westbound. He was prevented from following the suspects due to a large white van that blocked his path. He was not certain if the driver of the van had anything to do with the suspects.

The attempted burglary occurred at 8:50 p.m.
