Prom Plus Holiday Boutique

The annual Prom Plus Holiday Boutique is Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the community room and courtyard at CV Park, 3901 Dunsmore Ave. Get a jump on holiday shopping! At this fundraiser a variety of merchants will offer an assortment of items perfect for gift giving.

 

 

Veterans Celebrating Milestone Anniversary

On Saturday morning at its monthly breakfast, free to all local veterans and supporters, American Legion Post 288 and VFW 1614 will be recognized for 100 years of service to the community. All are invited.

Breakfast is on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; celebration is at 9 a.m.

The Hall is located at 4011 La Crescenta Ave.

 

 

Another New Date for PLUM VHGC

The final meeting of the Planning Land Use Management regarding the Verdugo Hills Golf Course Property has been rescheduled again. The meeting will be held on Dec. 10.at
2:30 p.m. at Council Chamber City Hall, 200 N. Spring St. in
Los Angeles. Anyone concerned regarding the future of the property is encouraged to attend.

Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day

The community is invited to the Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. Volunteers will be tending to native plants, removing invasive plants and doing some light trail maintenance.

Wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.

The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave. Those with mobility issues that require a closer parking spot, should email RosemontFriends@gmail.com.

This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages and no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

Parents who are planning to drop off their child will need to sign a waiver and leave a contact phone number.

Health Fair

The Outreach Committee of the Meher & Satig
Der Ohanessian Youth Center and the Crescenta Valley Lions Club are hosting a free community health fair for people under age 21. The fair is on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the youth center at 2633 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. There will be eye screenings and dental screenings.

LCPC Hosting Blood Drive

The La Cañada Presbyterian Church will be hosting a blood drive in the Family Life Center rooms 304 and 305 on Nov. 17 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. 

The donation sign-up table can be found on the church patio between services on the Sundays in November before the event or in the church office during the week. Appointments may also be made by going online at redcrossblood.org; use sponsor code is lacanadapreschurch. Those familiar with RapidPass® may use it to read the necessary information and answer the questions prior to coming to give blood. Go to redcrossblood.org/rapid  pass.

Walk-ins are also welcome. Bring a photo ID on the day of the event in order to give blood.

Homeless Connect Day

On Friday, Nov. 15 over a dozen local, private and public service providers will come together to deliver information and resources to homeless persons throughout the city. The event will assist in facilitating crucial services and direction for those looking to obtain housing, employment and mental health counseling among others.

Attendees will learn how to utilize available resources to address the problems contributing to their homelessness. The event will take place at Central Park, 201 E. Colorado St. in Glendale, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
