The results are in from this weekend’s Crescenta Valley Town Council election for six seats – three regular members and three alternates. After tallying the ballots, elected to three-year terms as regular members are Daniel Kim and incumbents Mariam Barnes and Jo Ann Stupakis. Alternate members voted in for one-year terms are first alternate Desiree Rabinov, second alternate Sarah Todd and third alternate Charles Beatty.
CVTC was established by former Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich as a liaison for the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County in the Montrose and La Crescenta areas. The Council’s power comes from the people it represents as opinions and suggestions shared with the Council are directly communicated to the representative for the fifth district on the LA County Board of Supervisors, currently Kathryn Barger. The Council keeps the residents informed of issues in the area, including any changes in ordinances. The monthly meetings include updates from the CV Sheriff’s Station, California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County Fire Dept., Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), as well as local organizations like the American Legion Post 288 and the CV Chamber of Commerce. There is public comment at each meeting.
Meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month at the La Crescenta Library community room, 2809 Foothill Blvd., at 7 p.m. The CV Youth Town Council, comprised of local teens, meets at 6 p.m. To find more information about CVTC, go to thecvcouncil.com.
