On Nov. 14, the CV Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coalition will present a seminar on marijuana including past and future attempts to legalize the drug in California. Current law about medical marijuana will also be discussed.
“I believe this is one more step to educate our community of the hazards of prescription drug abuse,” said Glendale police officer and CVDAPC President Matt Zakarian. “I hope people understand how this affects our youth’s perception of harm.”
The guest speaker is Alexandra Datig, an anti-drug activist and founder of Nipitinthebud2010.org, an organization that opposed Prop. 19 that was defeated in a 2010 election. She also founded Five Years From Now, an informational website on the subject of addictive personality. For 12 years Datig has been recovering from an addiction to alcohol and drugs. She is now a political advisor and consultant and has appeared on television and radio talk shows.
The seminar will be held at the La Crescenta Library’s Community Room at 2809 Foothill Blvd. beginning at 6 p.m. She will allow time for questions from the audience. A video crew will be taping the event.
