SCE Begins Phase 2
Southern California Edison (SCE) is starting the second phase of its electrical upgrades on Crescenta Valley’s Panorama Circuit.
The Panorama Circuit upgrade (4kV-16kV cutover) project is expected to be completed by Nov. 30. The boundaries are the east side of Ocean View Boulevard north of Foothill Boulevard to Rosebank. There may be intermittent impacts to sidewalks and street access, which the schools should be notified by contractor Herman Weissker, Inc., who is implementing the project. No full street closures are expected around the schools. Most of the work around the schools will be targeted for night work. Although the three schools that were identified (Monte Vista Elementary, Rosemont Middle School and Mountain Avenue Elementary) are in residential areas so there will be some work that may be too loud for night work.
SCE will also be performing maintenance on the electrical system in the La Cañada area. In order to perform this work safely, SCE must temporarily turn off power. This outage will allow the modernization of the grid by making needed upgrades and repairs to increase reliability. Power outages may cause some inconvenience and therefore attempts are made for outages to be isolated down to the smallest area possible and the work completed safely and quickly.
The work will start today, Nov. 10 at 9:30 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Twenty-three residential customers will be affected and one commercial customer will be affected. No Traffic Control meters will be affected.
The outage boundary is Flintridge Avenue north side west of Hampstead Road.
Note that the power may be off for the whole period or may be turned off more than once. This planned outage may not begin exactly at the stated start time, and some conditions may cause this planned outage to be postponed. The times noted are SCE’s best estimate and circumstances may affect both the start time and the completion time indicated above.
