Foothill Boulevard and Oak Grove Drive in La Cañada, Jose DeLaCruz, 23, and Cipriano Flores, 52, both of Altadena were arrested after deputies responded to a call from a driver reporting a vehicle apparently attempting to run her off the road. According to the report, the driver was traveling northbound on Oak Grove Drive in La Cañada when she felt a hard “bump” from behind. At first she thought it was a motorist that accidently hit her car so she turned westbound onto Foothill Boulevard to pull over and exchange information. She then felt another hard hit from behind. Fearing for her safety and assuming at this point it was no longer an accident, the driver continued to the parking lot at Gould Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. The car that had been bumping followed her into the parking lot. The driver, later identified as Flores, got out of his car and began yelling at her. She exited the parking lot and saw the man enter his vehicle and begin to follow her. She contacted the sheriff’s station and relayed what was happening as the two cars continued westbound on Foothill Boulevard. The male driver continued to ram her vehicle causing her to momentarily lose control of her car. The driver finally pulled over to the side of the boulevard just east of the Foothill (2) Freeway. The woman driver pulled over and stayed on the phone with deputies until they arrived.
The male driver, according to the report, said he attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him when the car moved into his lane. He allegedly told the deputies he thought it would be funny to ram the driver’s vehicle, which he allegedly did.
Deputies reported that Flores and DeLa Cruz appeared to be under the influence. Flores was arrested for driving under the influence, assault with a deadly weapon and driving without a valid driver’s license. The arrests occurred at 7:10 p.m.
