Glendale Police have released information regarding a call officers responded to on Friday, Nov. 11 when officers were summoned to a residence in the city of Glendale in regards to a child molestation investigation involving an 8 year-old boy.

The mother, out of concern for the safety of her child, stated that she discussed the Pennsylvania State University scandal with her 8-year-old son by reading an article from a news website. The news article explained the sexual acts of oral copulation, inappropriate touching, rape and sodomy. It was not so much that she believed her son was a victim, but as a parent she was providing education and awareness.  The mother soon learned that her son had been victimized by a babysitter. The family has used the babysitter for the past eight months and located him through an internet sitter service known as “Sittercity.com.”  The suspect provided babysitting services and took the child on outings at least once a month for the past eight months.

The service, which provides sitters, nannies and parents an opportunity to connect, is cooperating in the investigation.  The investigation also revealed that the suspect used another site, “Care.com,” to advertise his sitting services.

Glendale Police detectives have served search warrants, collected evidence and conducted interviews. Detectives were able to corroborate the allegations by the victim in addition to allegations of sexual assault on the victim’s the 3-year old brother. The suspect has been identified as Jordan Liu, 19 years-old of Alhambra. He was arrested by the Glendale Police Department on Nov. 22 on charges of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10 years. The case has been presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney. Eight felony counts of sex acts were charged by the District Attorney’s Office. Bail was set at $2.7 million .  On Nov. 28, arraignment for  Liu was held. He pled not guilty to the charges and was remanded to custody of the L.A. County Sheriff on the $2.7 million  bail.  Liu is due to make his next court appearance on Jan. 5 in  Burbank Superior Court. The Glendale Police Department is unaware of any additional victims that may have been sexually assaulted by  Liu. The investigation indicates that he may have conversed with over 100 parents through the web service, but it is unknown how many actually may have hired him as a babysitter.
