Glendale police are asking for the public’s help with any information pertaining to a trashcan fire in Montrose Park in the 3500 block of Clifton Place on Monday.
Witnesses reported seeing two boys, 14-to-15 years old, running toward the park’s bathroom. He then saw that a trashcan near the area where the boys were running from was on fire. A witness called the police, but the boys were not found.
The trashcan was near a picnic bench furthest from the playground equipment, and a white BIC lighter was found on the ground near the burnt garbage can. Police also found an empty can of beer.
A witness reported that he often walks in the park and has found several times that trashcans have been knocked over and has seen people smoking what appeared to be marijuana and drinking in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Glendale police at (818) 548-4840.
