Around 4:15 p.m. today Glendale Fire Dept responded to a call concerning a vehicle fire on Pennsylvania Avenue just north of the 210 (Foothill) Freeway off ramp.

The fire originated in the trunk of the vehicle. The driver is a construction worker who was traveling northbound on Pennsylvania Avenue on his way home when he noticed smoke coming out of the trunk of his car. He pulled over and discovered the entire trunk in flames. Firefighters knocked the fire down in a matter of seconds said Capt. Craig Skidmore.

The fire is under investigation. The cause is uncertain. Capt. Skidmore said that, at this point, it appeared to be either an electrical issue or cigarette debris could have accidentally made its way into the trunk.

The northbound traffic is being diverted onto the westbound onramp of the 210, creating traffic issues on surface streets in the area.
