Fiesta de Las Luminarias
On Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec 9, Glendale Beautiful and Glendale Community Services and Parks host the annual Fiesta de Las Luminarias at the Casa Adobe de San Rafael in Glendale.
On Friday at 7 p.m., the Cacao Ceremony will be led by Madre Jaguar accompanied by Electronic Sound Bath. RSVP to glendalebeautiful@gmail.com.
On Saturday starting at 2 p.m., an open house will be held with Horace Mann folkloric dancers on the patio at 2:30 p.m. followed by a piñata for children, Hoover HS choir at 4:20 p.m., and concluding with Gerry Keeling piano students performing at 6:30 pm. Light refreshments, no RSVP necessary, free to attend with donations gratefully accepted.

Annual Faculty/Alumni Dance Show at GCC
The annual Glendale Community College Faculty/Alumni Dance Production will be held over three days with four performances on the Auditorium Mainstage beginning Friday, Dec. 8.
Performances are on Friday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10. Admission is free. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Early arrival is advised. Children under 5 years old are not admitted.
Dancers in the show include students enrolled in the GCC Jazz Performance Skills, Dance Production and Salsa Dance classes.  The choreography is by faculty, alumni and guests.

Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day
The community is invited to the Rosemont Preserve Restoration Day on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. to help protect the natural habitat at Rosemont Preserve. Volunteers will be tending to native plants, removing invasive plants and watering young trees.
Bring drinking water and wear sturdy shoes, comfortable clothes and garden gloves (long pants and sleeves are recommended). Tools will be available.
 The Preserve is located at the north end of Rosemont Avenue, just past the chain link fence. As street parking is limited, please park at Two Strike Park, 5107 Rosemont Ave.
 This event is free to the public and suitable for all ages and no reservations required. Rain cancels event. Sorry, no pets please.

SMART DriverTEK Workshop
A SMART DriverTEK Workshop is being held at the Sparr Heights Community Center on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. The free workshop provides information on crash avoidance systems currently available in cars and teaches how these systems enhance diver performance while saving lives.
