The Prom Plus Holiday Boutique was held on Saturday at St. Luke’s of the Mountains Episcopal Church. Vendors offered a variety of items from soaps to bowls, and kitchen towels to jewelry. About 25 vendors joined in the fundraiser for Prom Plus. There were also many opportunities to win prizes including tickets to the Jay Leno Show, Pampered Chef items, a handmade quilt and jewelry.
The event benefited the Prom Plus organization, a non-profit that offers a Crescenta Valley High School seniors and their guest an after prom party that includes a rock climbing wall, mechanical bull, full casino and several other activities. The event is held at the Crescenta Cañada YMCA, a Prom Plus partner, from midnight to 5 a.m. Prom Plus volunteer adults supervise the event, which costs over $20,000 to produce.
Traditionally December is the Prom Plus Holiday Home Tour with a small boutique held at one of the homes. This year, due to a lack of available homes in time for the event, the Prom Plus board decided to expand on the popular boutique.
Highlights of the day included live music provided by music students from Rosemont Middle School and Crescenta Valley High School and the a capella group The Charismatics from CVHS. Food trucks had food for sale, donating a percentage of the day’s proceeds to Prom Plus and attracting attention from passing motorists.
