‘Light Up a Life’ Raises Thousands for Bereavement and Hospice Services

In a year during which so many favorite traditions and activities have been canceled or postponed, the Adventist Health Glendale Foundation made a special effort to re-create these memory-making events and milestones with “Light Up a Life,” its annual tree-lighting ceremony and fundraiser for the Beyond Loss Bereavement Ministry and Hospice Services.

On Thursday, Dec. 10, a special ceremony was held virtually as a YouTube premiere. More than $25,000 was raised to help provide bereavement services to those suffering a loss and hospice services to provide end-of-life care.

“Light Up A Life” has been held at Adventist Health Glendale for the last seven years and is part of an annual tradition celebrated throughout the United States to increase awareness and support of hospice care. The tree lighting ceremony is a meaningful way to honor those we love and those who have passed on.

“We’re so grateful to all who donated to this special event,” said Irene Bourdon, president of the Adventist Health Glendale Foundation, “especially during a year when so many are facing hardships of their own. The unstoppable philanthropic spirit of our community is so inspiring to see.”
