July 31, 1938 – Dec. 24, 2018
Catherine Marie Yamarone, loving wife of Charles and beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home in La Crescenta on Christmas Eve. Cathy was born in Medford, Massachusetts. Her father was an immigrant from Northern Ireland and her mother was a native of Massachusetts. Cathy moved to New York where she met Charles. They soon married and moved to California in 1962.
For the rest of her life, she maintained a welcoming home in La Crescenta. Cathy and Charles were dedicated to providing love and education to their sons. When grandchildren came into her life, Cathy made the most of each of the eight blessings, showering them with love and affection. She loved attending all of their games, recitals and other events. Cathy also worked at the Burbank Public Library for 15 years where she made many great friends.
Cathy was a generous woman who always donated time to charities, the church and community. She was constant caregiver to whoever was in need. Cathy taught by example, especially with the respect and kindness she showed to the many people who helped care for her and her household in her later years. Her immense influence is now reflected in the talents and successes of her husband, sons and grandchildren, and she will live forever in their hearts.
All those fortunate enough to have known Cathy will greatly miss her vivacious kindness and her wonderful sense of humor. She was a truly beautiful person inside and out.
Cathy is survived by her husband Charles, and her sons Chuck, Tom (Marilee), Steve (Michele), Mark (Susy), and Jim (Melina), as well as her eight grandchildren, three brothers and many cousins.
A rosary was said at St. James Church in La Crescenta at 7 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 2, and a funeral Mass was celebrated at St. James on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Learning Ally (www.learningally.org).
