Aug. 30, 1934-Jan. 6, 2013
Merton David Rodger was born Aug. 30, 1934 in Lowell, Mass. to Isabel and Lester Rodger. He was the second eldest of four children. Dave (as he liked to be called) entered into the Air Force with dreams of working with airplanes. He worked up to master sergeant and crew chief. He worked on special projects and did heroic acts of duty to earn special awards for his unit.
He was discharged from the military in Vandenberg AFB in Lompoc, Calif. for medical reasons. From there the family moved to the Los Angeles area where he worked in the entertainment industry until the mid-1970s. He also worked in Millwrights Union repairing turbine generators and later worked where his heart lay – at the church.
His later years were spent evangelizing the love of our Lord and his Holy Mother. He lived his life with passion for God and love of family. His greatest passion was the sound of vintage aircraft. He would name the planes as they flew overhead. He was a hardworking father who was loved by many.
He is survived by his sister Natalie Passler of Delray, Fla. and brother James Rodger of New Hampshire. His wife Blanche Rodger preceded him in death in September 1996. He is also survived by children: Todd Rodger of Chatsworth, Jeff Rodger of Lakewood, Cory Rodger of Glendale, Laura Harms of Brockton, Mass. and Jean Page of Castaic. Also survived by two grandchildren: Jacob Harms of Brockton and Tori Rodger of Lakewood.
