June 20, 1928 – Dec. 27, 2017
William (Bill) Case of Glendale was born on June 20, 1928 and passed away on Dec. 27. Bill was born in Mansfield, Ohio and became a corpsman in the Navy. He spent time in Ohio and Alaska before settling in California. In his early career he did sales with his last job selling concrete before moving to real estate. He was a successful agent, then became a broker. He and his wife Betty opened their own real estate office.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his adopted mother Mam-maw and his brothers Jim, Jack, Bob, Harry and sister Dorothy.
Bill had a fascinating 89 years of life and as a young man he loved piloting small planes, skiing, travel, bowling and group social outings. After retirement, he and Betty bought a golf course second home that allowed unlimited golf. He enjoyed walking his dogs around his mountain home. In later life, he enjoyed daily tai chi before checking on his rental properties and maybe having lunch or an early dinner with his fond friends.
He was a member of the La Crescenta Presbyterian Church for over 40 years and appreciated all the visits from Pastor Andy and the congregation during his last months in a rehab facility.
Bill was a kind soul, liked and loved by all who knew him. As a Christian he believed, “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.” ¬¬– C.S. Lewis
His funeral celebration will be held today, Thursday, Jan. 11 at 4 p.m. at the La Crescenta Presbyterian Church at 2902 Montrose Ave. in La Crescenta. A reception will immediately follow at the church fellowship hall.
