Feb. 21, 1941 – Feb. 11, 2019
Born in Boston, Massachusetts on Feb. 21, 1941, Arthur Paul Stubbs always shared that he wanted to leave the cold, frigid snow of New England for the warm, soft sand of Southern California. But the truth was that he followed his only love Marguerite Alznauer to the west coast. They were married on July 7, 1961 in Eagle Rock. Known to his friends and loved ones as Art, he worked at Gene’s Auto Body in Tujunga before opening his own business, Art’s Auto Body, in Montrose in 1975.
Marguerite convinced Art to leave Los Angeles in 1990 and they spent the rest of their lives in Central California. Always a city boy, though, he would travel the three hours back to Los Angeles on a monthly basis for nearly 30 years for his business needs and to religiously meet with friends and his son Steven. Arthur moved back temporarily for four months in 2008 to receive a heart transplant. His loving and kind heart was always with Margie in Central California but his physical heart drew him back to Los Angeles until he left all of our hearts at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 11.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Marguerite Stubbs, his son Steven and his daughter Linda.
A memorial service for Arthur will be held at Eagle Rock Seventh-day Adventist Church (2322 Merton Avenue, Los Angeles) on Monday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m.
