Louis Edward Malinowski of La Cañada passed away Feb. 25 at Verdugo Hills Hospital from complications of emphysema.
He was born Jan. 6, 1924 in Donora, Pa. to Vincente and Genevieve Malinowski.
Louis was a WWII veteran having served in the ETO in Germany. He earned his bachelor degree from Moorhead Minnesota State Teachers College and a master’s degree at the University of North Dakota in 1952. He taught school in North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska before moving to California in 1957 where he taught drafting at Glendale High School and Glendale College, retiring in 1986.
He is survived by his wife, former Carole Parkins from Hoople, N.D. whom he married Aug. 14, 1952; daughter Lauri and son-in-law Paul and grandson Jeffrey Roberts; son and daughter-in-law Vincent and Nancy Malinowski; half-sister Irene Chudek and several nieces and nephews.
He is remembered fondly for his love of family, animals, hunting, fishing and his quiet gentle and loving nature.
A memorial service in his honor is being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to any veteran’s organization or the Salvation Army.
