Kenneth Fanning, 97, passed away on Feb. 28. He was well-known in the Glendale area as a long-term regional vice president of Bank of America. He was the father of three: Barabara Awalt, who predeceased him, Donald Fannnig and Carol Gans; and stepfather to Gary Newton.
His first wife, Darlene, predeceased him by 17 years.
He was a member of the Elks and he regularly attended the Light on the Corner Church in Montrose and was a major force behind the acquisition of the iconic cross on the top of the church.
A World War II veteran, he served with the Navy in the South Pacific. He was a longtime member of Oakmont Country Club.
Never too late to find final happiness, he remarried in 2008 at age 82 to Sharon Newton. The two newlyweds traveled extensively, visiting all seven continents and the wonders of the world. Sharon devoted the last several years as his constant caregiver and companion.
Funeral services were held privately in March at Forest Lawn in Glendale, his final resting place.
