Sept. 5, 1918 – March 15, 2020

Our hearts are saddened by the loss of our mother on Sunday, March 15. Mary Rosa McCarthy, loving wife and mother, passed away very peacefully of natural causes at 101 years of age in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Mary was borne on Sept. 5, 1918 in Miami, Oklahoma to Karl and Jessie Keppel. She moved to California as a young adult and met and married the love of her life, Justin W. McCarthy, on Feb. 23, 1946. She is survived by their four children Kathleen Mills (Michael); Sheila Wall (Michael); Mary Aileen Van Zee (Martin); Sean Patrick McCarthy (Frances); seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mary had a master’s degree in science and math and enjoyed being a schoolteacher, homemaker and, later in life, a businesswoman.

Mary will be remembered for her devotion to her family and pursuing life’s adventures.

The family will be holding a celebration of life at a later date.
