Jan. 10, 1942 – May 4, 2012
Tom Horton was born on Jan. 10, 1942 in Los Angeles and passed away in Glendale on May 4. He was a loving, caring, generous and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
After graduating from Glendale High School in 1959 and serving in the U.S. Navy, Tom graduated from California State University – Northridge and began his life long career in construction management in the electrical industry.
While in college, Tom met his wife Connie Tonkiss and their 48-year marriage was blessed by three daughters: Debora, Elizabeth and Tamera.
While Tom received many awards for his work, his main passion was always his family. He coached his daughters for many years as they played Little League softball and was their biggest fan during their high school years. He loved to travel with his family and was always available to encourage, help and support.
In later years, his seven grandchildren Dakota, Corey, Kyle and Kyra Tavizon, and Makayla, Miranda and Marlena Graham became his greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandchildren, brother and three sisters and their families.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m. at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church in Montrose. Tom was truly a wonderful man and will live on in our hearts forever.
Donations in his memory would be appreciated by the Easter Seals Foundation and United Cerebral Palsy.
