Oct. 22, 1926 – April 21, 2020
On Oct. 22, 1926, Patricia Ann Heydenreich entered this world. Born in Glendale to Bill and Elsie Heydenreich, she grew up in a modest and loving home.
Pat lived in the Glendale area her entire life, attending Glendale schools and graduating from Glendale High School in 1944. With much attention to detail and a creative flair, she landed a job at Walt Disney Studios in the Ink and Paint Dept. There she worked alongside a hundred other young women painting the inked cells for the Disney Studios Animation Dept., producing short and feature length movies, including the classic “Cinderella.”
In 1946, Pat married Robert Lusby who was right out of the Navy and studying to be a dentist. Firstborn Donald Lusby was born in March 1948. After a couple of years, Pat went back to work at Disney and continued there until second born Thomas Lusby arrived in January 1953. From that time, she dedicated herself to being a homemaker and mother to her two boys.
Pat and Bob lived in south Glendale until they built a new home in north Glendale, moving there in 1959. Many vacations were enjoyed with their family of four – including visiting many national parks and a cross-country trip in a small RV in 1965.
In later years, Pat worked various jobs locally, including at a tax corporation, a dress shop, a photography studio and lastly at an upholstery store from where she retired in her late 70s.
One of Pat’s greatest joys in later years was her grandchildren – Andrew and Katherine. They were the apple of her eye and she spent countless hours with them.
Pat survived many health challenges over the years, but largely overcame each one. She died peacefully on April 21. She expressed a genuine trust in a loving God through Jesus Christ and in faith she affirmed a peace about God’s care and was not afraid to die.
Pat – Mom, Grandma, Aunt, Friend – will be missed immensely by her family and many others who knew her.
