Oct. 7, 1953 – March 14, 2013
Marlene Paula New-Dahlberg, born Oct. 7, 1953 in Glendale, passed away suddenly on March 14 in Las Vegas, Nev. where she resided.
Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Marlene knew she was kind to all, even volunteering to work with and help “bruised and broken” people, as she put it. Marlene was successful at whatever she put her mind to; athletics in high school (graduating from CVHS in 1971), then continuing her education and graduating from USC in 1976 with a degree in Physical Education. She was an outstanding pharmaceutical sales representative, working last for Norvartis.
Marlene was a wonderful and loyal daughter, sister, friend, niece and mother. She leaves behind her father William New Sr. of Verdugo City, brother William New Jr. of Los Angeles, Uncle Bob New of Flintridge, husband William Dahlberg and daughter Kim Dahlberg, both of Las Vegas, Nev., in addition to her many lifelong friends.
Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved mother Helen New.
Marlene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Marlene was a shining star while on this Earth – beautiful and unique, both inside and out.
There will be a Catholic Mass with intention for (dedicated to) Marlene on June 15 at St. James Church, 4625 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta at 8 a.m. A celebration of life and potluck gathering for Marlene and the people she loved and was loved by will follow at 1 p.m. at Crescenta Valley Park in La Crescenta (Hindenberg area, close to the bottom of Dunsmore), followed by a release of doves.
All those who knew and loved Marlene are invited to attend.
