Among Marlene’s many interests was a great love of books and nature. Her lifelong membership to the Sierra Club exemplified her love of adventure and respect for our planet and she taught others to have a responsible place in the world. She and her husband raised several seeing-eye dogs for the blind.

Marlene studied ancient civilizations for many years and even traveled to Egypt with her class. Her love of reading inspired her to be a diverse conversationalist. Most importantly, Marlene was a good listener, always asking caring questions that let you open up.

Her home was a sanctuary of peace, a calm respite from the world. She will be remembered for her love of family, open-mindedness, sense of humor, listening ear, wise sound advice, generosity and loving support.
