Joseph Brenkle

Joseph Brenkle was born on Sept. 21, 1927 in Martinez, Calif. He lived on the family ranch with his parents, brother Jack and sister Betty.

After high school, Joe received his congressional appointment to the United States Naval Academy in 1947. He graduated in 1951. He accepted a commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.

Upon leaving the Air Force, Joe accepted an engineering position at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) to pursue a career in the peaceful exploration of space. He retired from JPL after 28 years of service.

Joe is survived by his wife Jackie and four children, Debbie (deceased), Tom, Kathy and John. He will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather of eight.

In recent years, he focused his passion on preserving the family ranch always emphasizing education and the importance of family, faith and friends.

He will be greatly missed.
