Marion Helen Ryan

Marion Helen Ryan was born in Thedford, Nebr. in 1922. From her modest beginnings of being raised in a sod house and riding to school on horseback she found a new life for herself at age 15 when her family moved to Glendale.

She attended Glendale High School where she met her husband Jack Ryan. She attended beauty school and enjoyed working as a beautician for 40 years. For most of those 40 years she worked at Valley Beauty Salon on Ocean View Boulevard in Montrose.

In 1949, she and her husband bought a house in La Crescenta and resided there for the rest of their lives.

Marion devoted her life to her family and enjoyed simple activities such as knitting, sewing, cooking and gardening. She is survived by her daughter Terry Kappen and son-in-law Terry of La Crescenta; granddaughter Tracy Passerelle, grandson-in-law Jak and great-grandson Jaxson, all from San Diego; grandson Travis Kappen of Montrose, and sister Ann Pekarovich from Reno Nev.

Marion will be laid to rest with her husband in the High Sierra Nevada mountains.
