Nancy Serotuk of Montrose passed away peacefully and comfortably in her sleep on Sunday, July 28. She leaves her husband of 50 years Alex Serotuk; their daughter and son-in-law Michele and Steve Yamarone; and two grandsons Anthony and Michael.

Nancy was born on Dec. 12, 1923 in New York City where she was raised by her parents Isabel and John Cardinale. She grew up alongside four sisters (Angie, Mary, Dolly, and Cookie) and one brother (Michael).

After graduating high school, she went to work as an operator at a shoe manufacturer. On June 8, 1963 she married her husband Alex. Three years later they moved across the country with their daughter to Southern California.

A resident of Arcadia for over 20 years, Nancy lived her life as a loving mother and grandmother. Nancy was devoted to her Catholic faith. She prayed the rosary daily and found strength and peace in this devotion.

Her hobbies included sewing and traveling, especially to Italy where she connected with long lost relatives.

She will be remembered for her kind and generous soul, always putting the needs of others in front of her own.

The viewing and rosary was on Wednesday at Crippen Mortuary in La Crescenta. The funeral service will be held today, Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montrose at 10 a.m. She will then be laid to rest at the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in San Fernando.
