Lynne Kress (Sciacqua) Baumheckel, a longtime resident of Montrose, suddenly passed away on Aug. 9 with her husband, son and granddaughter by her side.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Aug. 7, 1940, Lynne and her family relocated to Southern California when she was 3. She moved to Montrose in 1972.
A graduate of Dorsey High School, Lynne always cherished her social circle from that era, often serving on the decorating committee for their reunions. She graduated from Woodbury College with a major in interior design, which was her passion. She considered motherhood a privilege, pouring her heart and soul into making her house a loving home.
While writing to her grandchildren, Lynne said, “Christmas means many different things, but I would like it to teach you how to love family and friends, enjoy each other for who that person is, and forgive those who have hurt you in some way.” This reflects her unbiased love for all. Lynne planned for Christmas all year long, with a sprinkling of Christmas in the décor of every room in her house.
Many remember Lynne’s heart for taking in strays, be they animals or people.
She is survived by her husband Bob; sons Nathan (Natashia), and Tod (Cherryl); stepchildren Lloyd (Panida), Linda (Bob), Karl (Cheryl), Ron (Michele), Charlene (Ryan); 17 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Her memorial service will be Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. at Community Life Church (FBCLC), 4441 La Crescenta Ave. Donations may be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or FBCLC Youth Fund in lieu of flowers.
