Rocco P. Arre
Aug. 25, 2022

Rocco Peter Arre of La Crescenta passed away on Aug. 25. He was 90 years old. He was born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania as the only child of John and Lena Arre. He earned a B.S. degree in economics from Florida Southern College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy for four years and became a medical corpsman in the Marine Corps. He and his parents eventually moved to La Crescenta in 1961.

Rocky, as he was affectionately known, found his soul mate and the love of his life, Palma, in Italy and the two were married and inseparable for 61 years. They had three children but, sadly, their eldest daughter Gina died from leukemia at the age of 13.

Rocky worked as a salesman for G.E. for many years until he became successful in real estate and restaurant ownership. He loved to travel with his extended and immediate family and had traveled extensively throughout the world. He truly enjoyed cruising the most. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old movies on TV, which he did much of in his later years.

Generous to a fault, he provided love and security to his family. His children – Gina, Linda and John – his daughter-in-law Janice and son-in-law Michael, and his grandchildren, Kyle, Zachary, Dylan, Juliana and Johnny, meant the world to him. A piece of him died when his beloved Johnny died at the tender age of 7. The enormity of losing not only a child, but a grandchild too, certainly weighed heavily on him but he never lost his zest for life. He was not only a man of big physical stature, but he also had a large personality to match. He loved making other people laugh with his stories and uninhibited remarks.

Rocky is survived by his wife, Palma Arre; two children, Linda Warner (husband Michael) and John Arre (wife Janice); grandchildren Kyle, Zachary, and Dylan Warner and Juliana Arre.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, Sept. 12 at Holy Redeemer Church, 2411 Montrose Ave. in Montrose with a rosary starting at 10:30 a.m. and service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rocky’s name to Holy Redeemer Church or to the charity of your choice.
