Artha May Pegler passed away on Aug. 14 after a lengthy illness. She was born May 29, 1927 to Arthur and Vivian Johnson in Yakima, Wash. After graduating high school, she moved to Seattle and worked for the telephone company where she met Donald Pegler.
They married and moved to La Crescenta in 1954. She was active with her children in PTA, Girl Scouts and Jobs Daughters. She worked as a bookkeeper for the entertainment industry.
Artha shared her love of the water with Don by being active in the boating safety group Power Squadron, acting as its treasurer for many years. Artie and Don enjoyed numerous trips throughout the western United States, Mexico and Canadian waterways, towing their boat behind their motor home.
Artha also enjoyed sewing, gardening and visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Artha is pre-deceased by her husband Donald and her daughter, Cynthia Ross. She is survived by her brother Rodger Johnson, sons Robert and Dale Pegler and daughter Betty DeRosa. She has eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial service is pending. She will be missed by all who knew her.
