Eugene Emerson “Gene” Wyant, Sr.

Gene was born March 21, 1920 in Colfax, Ind. He passed away Sept. 2 in Glendale.

Gene served in the Marines in WW II from 1944 through 1945 and was awarded many commendations including a Purple Heart. Gene worked as a carpenter building homes in Indianapolis, Ind. He moved to California in the early 1950s where he became a carpet installer. He was a longtime resident of La Crescenta living in the area for over 40 years.

Gene is survived by his loving wife Harriett “Sweetie” of 41 years; son Eugene E. Wyant, Jr. and wife Ruth; daughter Darlene Van Horne; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and brother Tunny Wyant.

He is predeceased by son Dale “Brad” Wyant, daughter Yvonne Wyant and seven brothers and sisters.

Gene’s great love was wood carving and making people happy.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Crippen Mortuary Chapel in La Crescenta.
