Dorothea Marie Little, known as “Aunt Dot” to her nieces and nephews, passed away peacefully on Sept. 8 in Tujunga. Dorothea was born on Sept. 23, 1924 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to George Herman “Charlie” Fox and Blanche Augusta (Davis) Fox. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse in Texas, at a hospital in Pasadena and a nursing home in Centerville.
Dorothea married Dallas Little, who she met at a “Parents w/out Partners,” meeting. They lived in Pasadena, Texas and enjoyed many years of love and square dancing. Upon her husband’s retirement, they settled on a ranch in Madisonville, Texas where they were breeders of purebred rat terriers. She was active in the Red Hat Society.
Following her husband’s death in 2008, Dorothea moved to La Crescenta, CA where she lived with and was lovingly cared for by her sister, Mary Moss. Dorothea was preceded in death by her sister Helen Antoinette Fox in 1928 and her two children: infant Howard Wayman Jr. in 1954 and Jennifer Little Dabney (David) in 2015.
Aunt Dot is survived by her sister Mary Moss; stepchildren DeWayne Little, Shelby Little, Sherry McCommon (Larry); nephews Steve Moss of Ecuador, Mark Moss (April) of Rancho Cucamonga, Paul Moss of Saudi Arabia; nieces Helen Moss-Uehlein (Bill) of Portland, Oregon and JoAnn Mays (Mark) of Austin, Texas.
Services were held at Crippen Mortuary on Sep. 17 by Pastor Tom Kendall of First United Methodist Church in Tujunga. Dorothea’s ashes will be interned at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas beside her mother.
