Paul Garrier passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2020 at Kindred Hospital in La Mirada.
He was born in Denver, Colorado on Sept. 29, 1938. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in education and went on to acquire a master’s degree from USIU in California.
After being offered a teaching position in the Glendale Unified School District, Paul and his wife Joyce moved to Glendale in 1963. He was a math teacher at both Wilson and Clark junior high schools before moving on to Crescenta Valley High School. He retired after 30 years as a beloved teacher. He was often in touch with former students whose lives he had influenced.
He loved baseball and was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees. He spent much of his time making calls to his loving family and many longtime friends just to talk or catch up.
Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years Joyce; daughters Michele Hunstable (husband John) and Amy Dupas; and his grandchildren Veronica, Nathan, Ethan and Madison.
Paul will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Rest in peace.
Viewing will be on Oct. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Crippen Mortuary, 2900 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose. Social distancing guidelines will be in place.
Graveside service will be held at San Fernando Mission in Mission Hills at 1 p.m.
Donations are welcome in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
