Joe Walker

Jan. 14, 1963 – Oct. 4, 2018

Joseph Howard Walker of La Cañada passed away from prostate cancer on Oct. 4 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Gina; daughter Brielle; sons Chase and Weston; brother Bryan; sister Donna Schroeder; and a large extended family in California, Nevada, South Dakota and Montana.

Joe was born to Donald and Barbara Walker in Sunland on Jan. 14, 1963. He graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1981. He met his wife Gina at a Halloween party in 1983 and the two wed in Pasadena on May 2, 1987. They were blessed with three children and over 31 years of marriage.

Joe worked in the commercial refrigeration business from the age of 18. He started out in the field and, with a strong work ethic, worked his way up over the years. Those who worked for Joe describe him as a man who always took care of them. But that’s who Joe was … a man who always took care of people.

One of the great passions in Joe’s life was coaching Brielle, Chase and Weston and watching them play high school sports. He coached many baseball teams for Crescenta Sports Association over the years where lasting friendships were built with other baseball families. He also loved early morning fishing at Lake Castaic, snowboarding in Mammoth, watching NASCAR, riding motorcycles, cheering on the Dodgers and Seahawks, and camping with his family.

Joe will be honored in a celebration of life on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Montrose Church, 2409 Florencita Dr. W in Montrose
