Herbert Hansen passed away peacefully in his home Oct. 3 at the age of 92. Herbert is survived by his wife Moria (Wilkinson) Hansen; two daughters: Nancy (Hansen) Manley, Karen (Hansen) Baird; son Richard; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Herbert was born Sept. 18, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri when he was 3 where they remained for the next five years. When Herbert was 8 years old, the family moved to Glendale.
Herbert graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in 1942 and was drafted into the Navy. After returning home, he met the love of his life, Moria Wilkinson, and they were married on Sept. 16, 1950. He enrolled at Glendale College and continued taking classes at USC where he studied mechanical engineering. A majority of Herbert’s career was spent working at Applied Research Laboratories where he quickly worked his way up to a senior management position.
Herbert was known for his many hobbies that he passionately developed. Some of these hobbies included woodworking, photography, taxidermy, hunting, fishing and athletic endeavors such as cycling and water skiing.
The funeral is scheduled on Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at Saint James the Less Catholic Church, 4625 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Herbert’s life.
