Geraldine “Jeri” Spayth

Oct. 20, 1934 – Oct. 19, 2012

Geraldine (Jeri) Spayth was born in Brooklyn, New York on Oct. 20, 1934 to Thomas and Josephine Monti and passed on Oct. 19.

The family moved to Detroit, Mich. then on to Los Angeles in 1945. Geraldine has lived in the foothills of the Crescenta Valley since 1949. She married Jerry Look in 1954 and they raised three children: Craig Look, Lisa Marie Levanas and Sharon Monti. She leaves three grandchildren: Erik, Angelina and Lindsay.

Geraldine worked for the L.A. Times and Vons Market. She and Warren were married in 1990 and she retired from the Times in 1993. In 1999, Warren retired from the L.A.P.D. and she and Warren became active in the VFW.  Geraldine became president of the local post Ladies Auxiliary and Warren the Post Commander and they spent much of their time working together at the local VFW Post. Jeri loved to crochet and many family and friends were gifted by Geraldine with her hand crocheted baby blankets. Her other specialty was cooking and sharing her famous anise cookies (biscotti).

If anyone was ever in need of a helping hand, Geraldine was there with a home meal and a hand to hold.

She also leaves two sisters: Paula (Bob) Clinnin and Elaine (Bruce) Fredine and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Nov. 10 at noon until 2:30 p.m. at Clancy’s Crab Broiler located at 219 N. Central Ave., Glendale.
