June 11, 1928 – Oct. 21, 2012
Mrs. Joan Gedney Earl, a longtime resident of Glendale, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21 at Verdugo Hills Hospital. Joan was born on June 11, 1928 in Glendale and graduated from Glendale High School in 1946.
She married Donald Douglas Earl in 1949 and was married to Don for 46 years. Together they raised three children. Don passed away in 1995.
Joan worked for the Glendale Unified School District for many years at various school sites. She was also a longtime volunteer with the Glendale Association for the Retarded.
Joan loved singing in her choir and socializing with her many close friends. She also prized the time she could spend with her family.
Joan was loved and will be missed by many; her children (Karen, Donny, and Chris), her family, and friends.
A simple service celebrating Joan’s life will be held at the La Cañada Congregational Church (formerly Church of the Lighted Window) on Nov. 3 at noon.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made in Joan Earl’s name to the Glendale Association for the Retarded.
