Nov. 9, 1996 – Oct. 14, 2019
Jason Alexander Lopez was born in Pasadena on Nov. 9, 1996 and passed away in Los Angeles on Oct. 14. For the 22 years, 11 months and five days of his life, he graced us all with his boundless capacity for love, with the warmth and radiance of his gentle demeanor, and with his effortless ability to make you laugh.
From the moment he was born, Jason was a remarkably special individual. He was a beautiful baby with large, doe-like brown eyes that reflected in them the wonder and beauty of the world. It was this sense of wonder and beauty that informed the way Jason saw life: as an adventure and as a gift to be shared with those around you. From the time he was a child he was telling stories, singing songs, dressing up in whatever clothes he could find, making the kind of mischief you wanted to be a part of and, above all, bringing joy to those around him.
Jason’s creative and compassionate spirit was the primary force of his life. His love of music, cars and art, and his resounding desire to fill the world with more beauty, were the pillars of his community. He surrounded himself with an incredible group of like-minded friends who became his family, and was an ever loving, fiercely loyal son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend.
Jason was a friend to everyone he encountered, always ready with a handshake or a hug or a smile. Jason’s kindness inspired those around him to live with the same grace, compassion and care. He is loved beyond measure and will forever be missed.
Lastly, in his own words, he was an “advocate for the human race, for the trees, bees, polar bears and woodpeckers.”
Jason is survived by his mother Stephanie Thornbury; father Gerardo Lopez; sisters Shelby and Sydney Lopez; grandmother Juanita Lopez.
