Colleen “Betty” Jane Munson

Jan. 18, 1924 – Feb. 17, 2022

Known to her friends and family as “Bette,” Colleen was born on Jan. 18, 1924 in Glendale to Cecil and Evelyn Bottrell. Her parents, older brother Richard (Dick) and younger brother Gerald are waiting to welcome her into God’s arms.

She peacefully passed away on Feb.17, 2022 (age 98) in Sacramento, where she lived the past 20 years near her two sons, Michael and Patrick (Rick) Munson.

Colleen grew up and attended Hoover High School, graduating in 1942, and lived in the La Crescenta and Montrose areas. She was a member of the La Crescenta Baptist Church until moving to Sacramento.

Colleen was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother and a good friend. As a mostly stay-at-home mom, she loved the sounds of the great bands of the 1940s as well as watching scary and who-done-it movies, doing crossword puzzles, eating See’s soft center chocolates and dining out at the Old Spaghetti Factory, IHOP and Golden Coral restaurants.

Her biggest regret in her later years was leaving the La Crescenta and Montrose areas.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn Cemetery for family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to local Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease or dementia charities.
