Patricia Mary Nicholson

Sept. 1, 1930 – Nov. 21, 2018

Patricia “Pat” Nicholson beloved Wife, Mom, and Nana, passed away at home surrounded by family after a short illness.  She was born in Los Angeles to Greta and Eugene Seeber. She married Samuel Nicholson in 1954 in Darmstadt, Germany while Sam was finishing his US Army obligation.  They honeymooned throughout Europe.

Pat and Sam spent most of their 64 years of marriage raising their four children in La Crescenta. CA.  Pat attended Incarnation Elementary, Toll Jr. H.S., and Holy Family H.S.  in Glendale.  She earned her Bachelor Degree in Education at UCSB and was president of her Pi Beta Phi Sorority.  Pat loved teaching and proudly taught kindergarten for the Glendale Unified School District.

As a 50+ year member of St. James the Less Catholic Church, Pat served on many of the Parish Committees, as well as being a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Sunday Mass. In the year 2005, Pope John Paul II honored Pat with the Benemerenti Medal for outstanding Laity Service to the Roman Catholic Church.

Pat attended most of the school activities and games participated in by her children and grandchildren.  You could always find “Nana” in the stands. Pat was an avid USC Trojan fan.  She served as the event call announcer at all USC Track & Field home meets for 12 years.  She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Chapter FF, P.E.O.  She and Sam created and performed the Old Time Radio Show and donated the money they raised to the Crescenta Valley HS student scholarship award. She proudly holds the distinction of being the only woman to win the Glendale YMCA Quarterback Club annual Football Picking contest.

Vibrant until the end, Pat loved her aerobics class and playing golf.  She touched so many lives as a dedicated wife, Mom, Nana, teacher, and volunteer. She laughed easily, always had a huge smile on her lipstick painted lips, a quick quip, and a warm acceptance of all who she met.

Pat is lovingly survived by her brother, George Seeber (Jerry), husband Sam, sons Cameron (Mary) and Bob (Lori), daughters Kathy (Gary) Strangis and Karen (Tim) Bauer, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
