Saralyn (Suedmeyer) Goldsworthy Kismann was born on March 8, 1933 in Arapahoe, Nebraska as the 13th child of the local mayor, farmer, grain elevator operator and Lutheran minister Wilhelm Suedmeyer and his wife Blanche. Saralyn spent her days singing songs with her sister Sheila and going to the movies.
After a long illness, Saralyn’s mother passed away and the family relocated to Beloit, Wisconsin where she graduated from Beloit Memorial High School.
On St Patrick’s Day 1951, she married her high school sweetheart John Goldsworthy. Together they had four children: Jim (Donna), Dave (Kathy), Sue (Tye) and Steve (Robin). The family left Beloit in 1960 and moved to La Crescenta.
Saralyn worked for the U.S. Defense Dept. as an industrial specialist in contracts as one of the first women in her field providing contracts at the time for helicopters used during the Vietnam War. After retiring, she and John started and ran Dixieland Nursery near St. George, Utah.
Saralyn’s high school sweetheart preceded her in death in 1989. She then married Frank Kismann in 2002 who passed away in 2012.
She loved to travel, play piano and sing along with Mitch, Burl Yves and the Lennon Sisters. She kept busy with her artwork, pottery, songwriting and dancing.
She leaves behind her four children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren and spouses, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
Services are on Dec. 28 at Eternal Valley, 23287 Sierra Hwy. in Newhall followed by private gravesite services and reception.
