St. Luke’s Anglican Church reached out in love to the Glendale and Burbank communities in its most recent mission service project Saturday, Feb. 4 with the Glendale/Burbank Homeless Solutions Project.

Twenty-four adults and four to six children volunteers from St. Luke’s served dinner and dessert and spent time with approximately 45 of Glendale and Burbank’s most vulnerable and at-risk homeless individuals.

Ryan Butler, a Fuller Theological Seminary masters in Divinity graduate student, led and organized the project on behalf of St. Luke’s.

“We seek to meet the physical and relational needs of the poor and marginalized in our community,” said Butler. He coordinates St. Luke’s mission outreach efforts.

This pilot homeless project, executed in part with Urban Initiatives, a local homeless service provider, is operating at Glendale Armory, 220 Colorado Blvd. in Glendale. With the assistance of students and staff at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Glendale/Burbank Homeless Solutions Project endeavors to provide enhanced resources to local chronic homeless individuals and families and to assist them in obtaining and maintaining permanent housing. The project consists of 50 beds for individuals and families and operates until March 15.

St. Luke’s welcomes the community to attend its weekly Sunday worship services. A traditional 8 a.m. service is followed by a contemporary family worship service at 10:15 a.m. Services are held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Chapel, 300 Vallejo Dr. in Glendale.

St. Luke’s also invites the community to attend its monthly Fourth Friday Healing Service on the fourth Friday of the month at 7 p.m. at its church offices, 3901 Foothill Blvd., 2nd Floor, La Crescenta.
