Rivers to Present at Celebration Service
Classically trained Shakespearian actor Gerald C. Rivers will present
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech on Sunday, Feb. 26 during the 10 a.m. Celebration Service at Center for Spiritual Living – La Crescenta. Rivers’ djembe drumming group will also perform. Kim Yarbrough,
season two “The Voice” contestant, will be the guest soloist.
All are invited for a memorable Celebration Service in honor of Black History Month and 64 Days Season of Nonviolence.

Lent at Shadow Hills Presbyterian Church
Shadow Hills Presbyterian Church offers Sunday morning worship services at 10 a.m. Ash Wednesday service is on March 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Lenten Lentils is on Wednesday evenings from March 8 to April 5 and is a simple soup supper. After supper Pastor Arlo will be teaching a class on Death and Dying. Topics include:
March 8 ¬– How does our culture and how do we view death and dying
March 15 ¬– How to talk to children about death
March 22 – Death in Scripture
March 29 – End-of-life care and choices
April 5 – The Christian Funeral
Maundy Thursday Service is on April 13 at 7:30 p.m.
Easter is on April 16. Sunrise Service will be held in the church community garden at 6:30 a.m.; traditional service is at 10 a.m. followed by brunch.

Concert Celebrates Acquisition of Grand Piano
To celebrate the recent acquisition of a 6’7” Yamaha Conservatory Grand Piano, La Cañada Congregational Church will present a concert of piano duet music on March 26 at 4 p.m.
Joseph Klice, the church’s organist/pianist, and Cynthia Bauhof-Williams will perform music by Debussy, Dvorak and Barber. Bauhof -Williams is a faculty member of both Pasadena City College and the Pasadena Conservatory.
The concert will also feature Johannes Brahms’ “Liebeslieder Waltzes” performed by soprano Christine Whitten-Thomas, alto Russell Smith and baritone Kurt Winterhalter.
The concert is free. A free-will offering will be received to support the church’s musical instruments fund. A reception will be held in the church’s Fellowship Hall immediately following the concert.
The church is located at 1200 Foothill Boulevard, La Cañada Flintridge.
This Week at LCIF
The community is invited to join Lutheran Church in the Foothills at its 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Feb. 26. Guest Pastor Davis Tadena will bring a special word from the Lord. Nursery care is provided during the service for infants through toddlers and Children’s Church is available for children through sixth grade.
LCIF’s Children’s Church is pleased to invite the community to a movie night on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. We’ll be watching “The Secret Life of Pets” while we make dog toys for animal rescue. The event is free, snacks are provided and all ages are welcome!

Showing of ‘War Room’  
On Sunday, Feb. 26 Bethel Church in Sun Valley will offer a showing of the film “War Room” (rated PG).
An apparently perfect marriage is actually in shambles. After seeking counsel from a wise older woman, the wife realizes it will take a deep commitment to prayer to keep her world from crumbling.
The video presentation starts at 5:30 p.m. A potluck supper precedes the movie at 5 p.m. Free.

Life Improvement Courses Offered
The Church of Scientology Mission of the Foothills is offering variety of courses to better one’s life and relationships. Among the many courses offered are “How to Improve Relationships with Others,” “Successfully Raising Children” and “Knowing Who You Can Trust.”
