Lutheran Church in the Foothills
Lutheran Church in the Foothills invites everyone to attend its Holy Week services beginning with Palm Sunday worship March 24 at 9:45 a.m. The service begins in the LCIF courtyard where palm fronds are handed out for the traditional procession into the church. Maundy Thursday worship will be held on March 28 at 7 p.m. Maundy Thursday commemorates Jesus’ final celebration of Passover, or the Last Supper, with his disciples. LCIF will offer Good Friday worship at 7 p.m. on March 29 to commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Holy Week ends with the celebration of Easter on Sunday, March 31 at 10 a.m.
LCIF’s Easter worship with Pastor Rick Hall will be preceded by an egg hunt and brunch, beginning at 9 a.m. All are welcome.
LCIF continues to live stream all services on its YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.

Family Easter Celebration at La Crescenta Presbyterian
La Crescenta Presbyterian Church has a full calendar of family-friendly activities and worship services to celebrate Easter, all open to the community.
Easter Eggstravaganza: On Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to noon, families and children through sixth grade are invited to this free event featuring crafts, music and egg decorating. Bring six-12 hard-boiled eggs to decorate and a basket for the egg hunt!
Maundy Thursday: On Thursday, March 28 a simple meal of soup, bread and oranges will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by a worship service including communion at 7 p.m.
Good Friday: On Friday, March 29 a worship service beginning at 7 p.m. will be followed by a campfire vigil from 8 to 9 p.m., including the rolling of a giant boulder in front of the church, signifying the sealing of the tomb after Jesus’ death on the cross.
Holy Saturday Prayer Event: A 12-hour mini-prayathon hosted by Lift Up Crescenta Valley will take place on Saturday, March 30 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the chapel at La Crescenta Presbyterian. Participants from several churches in the area will pray continuously for revival, renewal and breakthrough.
Easter Sunday: On Sunday, March 31 LCPC will offer two opportunities to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with an inspiring message by Pastor Mouris Yousef. A 9 a.m. service will feature contemporary worship led by church praise band, The Blessed. At 11 a.m., a brass section will join the choir, organist and pianist.

Mt. Olive Offers Community Luncheon, Breakfast Bible Study
Mt. Olive Lutheran Church reminds the public that all are invited to its monthly breakfast Bible study at Panera Bread Restaurant, 990 Town Center Dr., Suite A in La Cañada on the third Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m. The Book of Ephesians is currently being studied. The church also hosts a community luncheon on the second Wednesday of each month through May. There is “wonderful food and amazing entertainment.” Cost is just $5.

All Invited to Support Group
Around the Rainbow, a support group for families of LGBTQIA individuals, meets monthly on the first and third Tuesday nights at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church, 2700 Montrose Ave. in Montrose in room 24: church narthex. Gathering is at 6:30 p.m. and meeting is from 7-8 p.m.

Lift Up Crescenta Valley
Lift Up Crescenta Valley is back, and is having a “mini-prayathon” the day after Good Friday (some call it Holy Saturday) to pray. The 12-hour mini-prayathon is being held in the newly remodeled chapel at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church, 2902 Montrose Ave. on Saturday, March 30 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

People are being asked to commit to pray for at least 30 minutes. Three to four people minimum are hoped to be praying continuously for the whole 12-hour time.
Those who want to be a leader are asked to commit to one-hour time-slots.
Walk and Word
Walk and Word participants will meet in the parking lot of Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta/Glendale at 8 a.m. on March 24 & 31. Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of Scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.
Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.

All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers after the hike.
