Open House at LDS
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, known to many by the nickname The Mormons, is hosting an open house on April 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at their Sunland building at 7955 Hillrose St.
The open house will introduce the faith and display what Mormons are doing locally and internationally to feed God’s sheep as directed biblically. Displays will be presented on various general church programs including genealogy and family history, emergency preparedness and humanitarian outreach, scouting and other youth programs, the international women’s organization, and addiction recovery. The church’s new Christ-centered video, “Because He Lives” will also be presented.
Members of local LDS Spanish, Tagalog, and Armenian-speaking congregations will be present to introduce topics to non-English speaking neighbors.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions.

McElroy to Speak at First Church of Christ, Scientist
International speaker Tom McElroy presents a free interactive talk, “The Real You – No Limitations,” on Sunday, April 19 at 3 p.m. at First Church of Christ, Scientist in La Cañada Flintridge. Admission is free.
Topics discussed include how a better understanding of spiritual identity can help overcome physical, emotional and circumstantial challenges among other things.
McElroy’s ideas are based on the teachings of Jesus as recorded in the Bible, and as discussed in “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy.

Blessing of the Animals at Shadow Hills Pres
A beloved community tradition continues when Shadow Hills Presbyterian Church celebrates the Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, April 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pastor Arlo Tysinger will pray for each animal that is present and a complimentary photo will be taken. Andy’s hot dogs will be available also.
The community is invited to bring their horses, cats, dogs, llamas, iguanas, fish, hamsters, goats, sheep, rabbits, lizards, birds – all of furry, feathered, hairy and scaly friends are welcome!

Tuesday Table Talk
On Tuesday, May 5, Bethel Church in Sun Valley will offer a showing of the film “Million Dollar Arm” (rated PG).
Looking to save his failing business, a sports agent launches a reality show to find India’s best cricketers, with the goal of turning them into professional baseball players and signing them to major league contracts.
The video will be preceded by a potluck supper. The potluck starts at 6:30 p.m., the video presentation starts at 7:15 p.m., followed by dessert and discussion at about 9:15 p.m. Free to attend.
