Benefit for Lakota Indians
Daniel Chaney, tenor, Kirstin Fife, violin, and Connie Grisham, accompanist, will present a benefit concert for Red Shirt (Lakota Indians) Summer Project in memory of Deane Winant. This music for charity event will be at St. George’s Episcopal Church on Saturday evening, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature both secular and religious music of Bach, Spanish composers, and others. Refreshments will be served.

Admission is free. Donations may be made to St. George Episcopal Church, and all proceeds will go to the benefit of this project. St. George’s address is 808 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada.

Tuesday Table Talk  
On Tuesday, May 7, Bethel Church in Sun Valley will show the film “The First Grader.”

Based on a true story, this inspirational drama profiles the amazing determination of 84-year-old Kenyan Kimani N’gan’ga Maruge, a Mau Mau freedom fighter who wants to take advantage of a new universal education decree by learning how to read.

The video will be preceded by a potluck supper. The potluck starts at 6:30 p.m.; the presentation starts at 7:15 p.m. followed by dessert and discussion at about 9 p.m.  Free.
