LCIF News
Donations amounting to more than 200 pounds of food and at least 300 pounds of clothing were received by Lutheran Church in the Foothills since the church put its call out for donations in December. The donations filled a large SUV and were delivered this week to Heart of the Canyons Church in Sunland for distribution to people in need. LCIF will continue to collect food and clothing for another distribution in the future. Canned goods and other non-perishable items are most needed. They can be dropped off during Sunday morning worship or at the church office anytime during the week.
Registration is open for Vacation Bible School at Lutheran Church in the Foothills. LCIF’s weeklong event will be held June 19-June 23. There will be lots of singing, dancing, crafts and games, all centered on learning about God in new ways. Families are encouraged to register online or call the church’s office. Those interested in volunteering for VBS should contact LCIF’s office as well.
LCIF reminds the community of its weekly Sunday school for children in first through fourth grades. Families should meet in the sanctuary for the 10 a.m. worship service. Following the “children’s sermon,” the kids will head to the Youth Room for crafts, games and a message from the Bible.
Lutheran Church in the Foothills continues to accept canned goods as well for its ongoing food drive to feed the hungry.

The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Walk and Word
In April, Walk and Word participants will meet in the parking lot of Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta/Glendale at 8 a.m. on April 30. Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of Scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.
Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.
Those with questions can email Jeanne at jnlavieri@earthlink.net.
All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers after the hike.
