Notes & Nods

LCIF News

Lutheran Church in the Foothills invites local children to join the fun this summer as LCIF hosts the “Weird Animals: Take a Walk on the Wild Side” VBS. Vacation Bible School, or VBS, will be June 19 through the 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to children ages 4 through sixth grade. Registration is $35 for one child, $25 each for two or more kids. There will be lots of singing, dancing, crafts and games, all centered on learning about God in new ways. Families are encouraged to register online through LCIF’s website, or call the church’s office.

All are welcome to join LCIF each Sunday morning for worship with Pastor Chuck Bunnell at 10 a.m., in person and online.

LCIF reminds the community of its weekly Sunday school for children in first through fourth grades. Families should meet in the sanctuary for the 10 a.m. worship service. Following the “children’s sermon,” the kids will head to the Youth Room for crafts, games and a message from the Bible.

Lutheran Church in the Foothills continues to accept canned goods as well for its ongoing food drive to feed the hungry.

Visit lcifoothills.org for event details. For more information or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951.

The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Walk and Word

In May, Walk and Word participants will meet in the parking lot of Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta/Glendale at 8 a.m. on May 14, 21 & 28. Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of Scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.

Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.

Those with questions can email Jeanne at jnlavieri@earthlink.net.

All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers after the hike.
