LCIF News
New beginnings are being celebrated at Lutheran Church in the Foothills. At its congregational meeting on June 4, church members voted to call Rev. Richard “Rick” Hall as LCIF’s new full time pastor. The community is invited to hear Pastor Rick’s first sermon as LCIF’s new leader during 10 a.m. worship on Sunday, June 18.
The church has enjoyed the care of Rev. Charles “Chuck” Bunnell as interim pastor these past two years. This coming Sunday, June 11, Bunnell will deliver his final sermon as interim pastor. Following the 10 a.m. service, in the Fellowship Hall church members and visitors will have an opportunity to thank Bunnell for his care. Bunnell came out of retirement to serve LCIF during the lengthy call process.
Rev. Hall grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He graduated from Adams State College in 1995 with a degree in history, government and philosophy, and secondary education. Hall earned his Masters of Divinity from Luther Seminary in 2011. He has served at churches in Wisconsin, North Dakota and, most recently, in Fresno. Hall is married to his wife, Cathy, of 24 years. They have two children, Max and Copper.
LCIF thanks its Call Committee for its tireless work in finding a pastoral candidate who meets the needs of LCIF and the community.

Walk and Word
In May, Walk and Word participants will meet in the parking lot of Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta/Glendale at 8 a.m. on June 11, 18 & 25. Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of Scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.
Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.
Those with questions can email Jeanne at jnlavieri@earthlink.net.
All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers after the hike.
