Lutheran Church to Host Events
Join Lutheran Church in the Foothills for a fun and active evening at the Rosebowl! Lutheran Church in the Foothills is hosting a 5K walk around the iconic stadium on Monday, June 24. Meet at the Brookside Golf Club (1133 Rosemont Ave. in Pasadena) at 6 p.m. to participate in the walk. Whether the preference is to walk, jog, rollerblade or bike, this event is open to everyone. Bring a water bottle and dress for the weather. There’s a chance of even winning a prize! This pet-friendly event is a great way to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors and take in the beauty of the Rosebowl.
Lutheran Church in the Foothills is also taking sign-ups for Lutheran Night at Dodger Stadium. Join the church community for an exciting evening of baseball on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:10 p.m. The LA Dodgers will be facing off against the Cleveland Guardians, followed by a spectacular drone show with fireworks. Tickets for Lutheran Night at Dodger Stadium are $35.

St. Bede The Venerable in La Cañada to Host Ancient Relic of St. Jude
St. Bede the Venerable in La Canada Flintridge will host the ancient relic of St. Jude the Apostle, cousin of Jesus, on Thursday, June 27 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Church. Veneration will begin at 2 p.m., Mass will be offered at 7 p.m. and veneration will end at 10 p.m.
The relic, widely believed to perform miracles, is a piece of bone
from St. Jude’s arm that centuries ago was separated from his remains.
The bone is inside a wooden reliquary carved in the shape of an
upright arm that gives the gesture of imparting a blessing. This visit
is part of the Tour of the Relics of St. Jude the Apostle, which has
already made over 100 stops throughout the United States since it
began last September, and marked the first time the relic has left
Italy in 1,700 years.
Admission is free and open to people of all faiths.

‘SCUBA,’ a Vacation Bible School at La Crescenta Presbyterian
Kids from age 3 to incoming seventh graders are invited to a weeklong deep-sea adventure at “SCUBA,” a Vacation Bible School at La Crescenta Presbyterian Church taking place Monday through Friday, July 15-19, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Kids will dance, sing, craft, explore, play and more as they learn to thank God for his loving kindness. The cost of this weeklong adventure is per family unit: $60 for one child; $100 for two children; $140 for three or more children. T-shirts are included. Register at LCPC.net/VBS

Mt. Olive Offers Community Breakfast Bible Study
Mt. Olive Lutheran Church reminds the public that all are invited to its monthly breakfast Bible study at Panera Bread Restaurant, 990 Town Center Dr., Suite A in La Cañada on the third Saturday of each month at 8:30 a.m. The Book of Ephesians is currently being studied.

ICF Hosting Summer Mass and Champagne Brunch
Italian Catholic Federation Branch 374 is hosting a summer Mass with Father Jim Bevacqua at Lakeside Golf Club (see note below) on July 14. Mass is at noon and the champagne brunch is at 1 p.m.
The menu is coffee, iced tea, lemonade, classic Caesar salad, cheesy bread, pasta primavera (vegetarian), butternut squash ravioli with kale (vegetarian), chicken parmesan and Italian cookies (gluten-free meal is available; please advise at the time of reservation).

Vacation Bible School at Mt. Olive
Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 3561 Foothill Blvd. in La Crescenta, will be hosting its 2024 Vacation Bible School (VBS) for K-sixth grade children over the week of Aug. 5th-9th, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. It will be packed full of fun, spiritual growth and memories. Joyful music, worship and games will introduce the “Moving Mountains” theme centered on Psalm 121. Age-based Bible studies will help VBS participants grow in their understanding of God and community. Lessons learned and friends made will reach way beyond this one week of day camp at Mt. U.S. Independence Worship Service at Mt. Olive
In commemoration of the hard-fought independence of our United States of America (from 1775-1783), and in celebration of the unanimous adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776, Mt. Olive church will feature national hymns and songs from its ELW hymnal at the worship service on Sunday, July 7 at 9:30 a.m.

Walk and Word
Walk and Word participants will meet in the parking lot of Deukmejian Wilderness Park, 3429 Markridge Road in La Crescenta/Glendale at 8 a.m. on June 30. Participants will walk for the first hour and then gather to read a selection of Scripture. About a half hour will be spent journaling about what was read and then there will be conversation, sharing thoughts.
Participants are asked to bring something to write with, anything wanted to eat or drink, and a chair to use for the writing part of the morning. Because people will be outdoors and social distancing will be practiced, masks will be optional.

All are welcome. If the hike is too strenuous, there are level paths at the park. There are ramps from the parking lot to the field where the group gathers after the hike.
